The children of the Heceta Head Lighthouse keepers attended a one-room school not far from the station. This 1916 class picture shows Raymond Bay (l) and Howard Hansen (r) standing next to each other in the third row up from the bottom. It is interesting because, according to known records, Robert Bay did not officially start as an assistant keeper at Heceta Head Lighthouse until 1918, though he lived in the general area of the Siuslaw River up until then.
