This lighthouse replaced an 1858 brick tower onshore. (See separate entry for Sandy Point Light.) The original Fresnel lens was destroyed by vandals in 1980. Accessible by boat only. A visitor to this site reports: "This lighthouse is very visible and may be easily photographed from Sandy Point Park in Maryland. We were there yesterday, and it was a great find." Accessible by boat only.
