A fog signal was established here in 1871. Tower Height: 31 Height of Focal Plane: 127 Characteristic and Range: Red flash every 8 seconds, visible for 13 nautical miles. Description of Tower: White, square tower on a corner of a white, square building, with a red lantern.

Grand Manan Island is accessible via a daily ferry departing from Blacks Harbour, New Brunswick, to North Head, Grand Manan. For information contact Coastal Transport Ltd. The schedule is also available at www.grandmanannb.com/ferry.htm To reach the lighthouse, turn left when leaving the ferry area at North Head, then turn right at Whistle Road and drive about 4 km.
