Earlier Towers? 1874: White, square, wooden tower, with dwelling attached. 1989: Fiberglass tower. Date Established: 1874 Fog Signal: Automated horn, six second blast every 60 seconds. Current Use: Active aid to navigation. Open To Public? Grounds only. Directions: At Highway 105 the Bras d'Or Lakes Scenic Drive turns left across a bridge. Just after crossing the bridge, a right turn off Highway 105 leads to the Point Aconi Lighthouse. Keepers: J. G. Mitchell (1965-1972), Paul Cranford (c. 1976).
