Thanks to the Delaware River and Bay Lighthouse Foundation, the Harbor of Refuge Lighthouse may soon be looking a bit better. The group is raising funds to remove the Masonite covers on the windows of the old beacon. The covers have been on the light for approximately 30 years.
The group plans to replace them with a durable Plexiglas that will allow natural light to filter into the tower.
The group, which now has a lease on the lighthouse, was formed in 1999 by Bob Trapani and Dan McFadden with the goal being to create a maritime museum and open the structure for public tours.
