After being dark since it was deactivated in 1905, the Port Isabel Lighthouse in Port Isabel, Texas, is once again shining bright with an exact replica of the 3rd order Fresnel lens that was originally installed in the lantern in 1857.
The 3rd order replica Fresnel lens, along with its new pedestal, was commissioned by the Texas Historical Commission, and was manufactured by Artworks Florida Classic Fresnel Lenses, LLC, under the ownership of Dan Spinella.
A relighting ceremony was held at the lighthouse on December 9, 2022. The new lens and pedestal were installed for educational purposes. (New lens and pedestal photos courtesy of Dan Spinella of Artworks Florida Classic Fresnel Lenses)
