For many years, Illinois residents Rudy and Bev Hess have been avid Harbour Lights collectors and still have many of their collectible lighthouses, especially of those that they have visited in person. Because of their love for lighthouse photography and Harbour Lights, they got a license plate to reflect that interest. The letters on the plate are HRBR-LT.
Several times over the years, they met Bill Younger, founder of Harbour Lights, at some of the many Harbour Lights events that were once held around the country. Although Harbour Lights is now out of business, Rudy and Bev Bess still maintain their HRBR-LT license plate.
The couple were the driving force behind the building of the Metropolis Lighthouse that the Hope Light Foundation constructed on the Ohio River in Metropolis, Illinois. It is the world’s only lighthouse that was designed, built, and dedicated specifically to the fight against cancer. To learn more, or to donate, you can go to: www.hopelightproject.com
