The United States Coast Guard has removed the 3rd order Fresnel lens from California’s Point Vicente Lighthouse. The revolving Fresnel lens had been in the lantern since the lighthouse was built and lighted for the first time on April 14, 1926.
The Fresnel lens was replaced by a modern optic. The clamshell Fresnel lens was then reassembled this past March in a new display exhibit in the Point Vicente Interpretative Center at 31501 Palos Verdes Drive West, Ranch Palos Verdes, California.
