This photo of the Piney Point Lighthouse, shown in September/October edition of Lighthouse Digest, incorrectly stated that the fog bell shown here is the original fog bell from the lighthouse. This is incorrect. The bell that is shown, which is on loan from the Coast Guard, is not the original fog bell from the Piney Point Lighthouse.
The story also indicated that the keeper’s house was damaged beyond repair. This is also incorrect. The Piney Point keeper’s house is located on the south campus of the historic park and is part of the interpretative tour of the park and it is used for special events. The gift shop and offices are located in a two story building on the north campus of their facilities that was once the main office of Stewart Petroleum.
