North Carolina’s Bald Head Lighthouse on Bald Head Island is shown here getting some recent maintenance. Built in 1817, the lighthouse is most often referred to as “Old Baldy.” Today the lighthouse is managed by the Old Baldy Foundation, which also operates a museum in a replica of the lighthouse keeper’s house.
