Shown here is a rare image of the last fog bell tower to stand at Nobska Point Lighthouse in Woods Hole, Massachusetts. Over the years, several different fog bell towers stood at the site before this one was built. It no longer stands. In 1911 the fog bell at Nobska Lighthouse was replaced by a fog whistle, and the fog bell served as an emergency back up until 1918 when it was fully discontinued. Note sailing ship in the distance - the last of the Golden Age of Sail.
