The City of Cambridge, Maryland, has approved plans to build an exact replica of the lost Choptank River Lighthouse.
Realizing the importance of lighthouses and tourism, officials believe the lighthouse will be an icon for the towns current revitalization.
The original lighthouse once stood between Castle Haven and the mouth of the Tred River and was torn down by the Coast Guard in the 1960’s. The new replica will be on Long Wharf at the city’s waterfront park at the entrance to Cambridge Creek.
