In spite of some foul weather and the current national events those that attended this years annual Great Lakes Lighthouse Festival were treated good times with new and old friends.
Although the helicopter lighthouse tours were cancelled and because of inclement weather one days boat trips were canceled, this years event was billed as a success by attendees and volunteers alike who were treated to many lighthouse exhibits, seminars, music, great food and the meeting of new friends and the seeing of old ones.
Lighthouse Digest has always recommended this event and if you only travel once a year, and you like lighthouses, this festival is the place to go each year. The area in and around Alpena, Michigan is loaded with maritime history including lighthouses, museums, ships and at that time of the year fantastic autumn colors.
