This cute 90-second film tells the story of a lighthouse keeper diligently going about his daily routine. Washing windows. Changing the lamp. Cleaning. Fishing. Checking the radio. Cooking dinner. Night falls and then in the morning back to work. Painting the tower from a boatswain’s chair. Washing more windows. Constantly and anxiously looking out to sea – waiting and searching – while humming “Over the Mountain, Across the Sea.” Until finally! A ship is seen and it’s getting closer. He rushes down the tower stairs, down the steep yard, and into his Volkswagen car. He starts the engine and tunes the radio to hear the song he has been humming. He heads down the driveway to the dock, opens the mailbox to retrieve his mail and heads back home. On screen the tagline reads “What would you drive if you didn’t need to? Let’s go for a drive!”

It’s a great little “movie” with some nice shots of the old lighthouse in Cape Campbell on the South Island of New Zealand. The lighthouse was also the same one that was featured in the movie “The Light Between Oceans.” If you have 90 seconds to spare, you can watch it on

YouTube here.
