Photo Caption:
An early image of part of the St. George Lighthouse Depot on Staten Island, NY. Many of the buildings at this site no longer stand. The buildings that remain were chosen to house the National Lighthouse Museum, a project that has never materialized because of a lack of funds. The fact that these structures have not been maintained, restored and opened to the public as an historical monument and museum is a public disgrace. (Lighthouse Digest archives photo.)
