George Parker Matthews, the first lighthouse keeper of Squirrel Point Lighthouse, is shown here with his wife Hattie Louise (Bryer) Matthews. The number 1 on his jacket lapel indicates that the photo was taken while he was the 1st assistant keeper at Maine’s Whitehead Lighthouse before he became the first keeper at Squirrel Point Lighthouse.
