The Putnam Museum of History and Natural Sciences is named for the Charles Edwin and Mary Louisa (Duncan) Putnam family. The Putnam family was influential in several aspects of community life, including in the museum’s early history as donors to the collection, officers of the Davenport Academy of Science, and financial supporters. Several of George Rockwell Putnam’s siblings were instrumental in the development of the institution. Putnam’s younger brother, Edward, served as the museum’s director from 1927 to 1939, and younger sister, Bessie, served as its treasurer. The Putnam Museum and Imax Theatre is located on Museum Hill at the entrance to Fejervary Park at 1717 W. 12th Street, Davenport, Iowa. For more information, you can them at 523-324-1933.
