Photo Caption:

Navassa Island Lighthouse Station appears to be in excellent condition in this image. 9th District Lighthouse Superintendent Frederick P. Dillon designed the duplicate acetylene lighting system and installed it in 1929, the first time one had ever been used in the U.S. Lighthouse Service. Today, the lighthouse is abandoned and on the Lighthouse Digest Doomsday List of Endangered Lighthouses. (Lighthouse Digest archives)
