Seven Foot Knoll Lighthouse as it appeared when the Bowlings were stationed there in the 1870s. According to daughter, Eva Marie, on the iron walkway surrounding the tower there were numerous pots and boxes filled with flowers and vegetables, “making it feel like an oasis.” Inside the living room was a piano and large bookcase with an abundance of books. Because the closest point of land was six miles away, the children were homeschooled by their mother who had previously been a school teacher. Back to the edition of: Sep/Oct 2023
