The 1854 Heron Neck Light Station on Maine’s Green Island where Ernie DeRaps was stationed as an assistant lighthouse keeper from 1959 to 1961. Because this was classified as a stag station, his family was not allowed to live there with him. While stationed here, he couldn’t make it to his father’s deathbed because he was stranded on the island.
