In this undated photo, three Coast Guardsmen are approaching the Robbins Reef Lighthouse in a small boat. Barely visible on the over-hang of the lower platform are two Coast Guard lighthouse keepers apparently awaiting the arrival of the men in the small boat. The octagon structure shown to the right is part of the New York City sewer system built in the early 1800s. (U.S. Coast Guard photo, Lighthouse Digest archives.)
