In June of 1937, LeRoy White was successful in becoming a substitute assistant keeper at Los Angeles Harbor Lighthouse. The letter he received from 18th District Superintendent Harry Rhodes gave him two-week’s notice to report and stated that the appointment would last “over a period of several months while the different keepers of that Station take leave.” (Courtesy of Betty Westby)
