Photo Caption:

Seaman Ralph E. Lewis cleans some brasswork on the lens while EM3 Robert W. Imhoff looks on in this 1967 photo. Lewis served at least three years at Anacapa from 1964 to 1967. Imhoff, age 21, only served for a little over a year in the Coast Guard before moving on to become an inventor. As station engineer, he spent most of his time maintaining the five generators, diesel engines, fresh water pump, cargo hoist and tractor. (Coast Guard Historian’s Office photo)
