This 1963 aerial view of Anacapa Island shows the full complement of station buildings before three of the four keeper’s quarters on the left side of the photo were demolished during the first years of the automation process. Thankfully, a formal agreement was reached between the NPS and Coast Guard in 1970 to save the rest of the buildings from destruction. Note the AM-FM transceiver tower in the lower left of the photo.
