Edward Christianson started his career in the U.S. Lighthouse Service at the age of 15, in 1917, as a cook onboard the North Manitou Lightship LV56. He was fired from there for bad conduct but soon found employment onboard the Peshtigo Reef Lightship, again as a cook. (Lighthouse Digest archives)
