The 120-foot tall Carysfort Reef Lighthouse was automated in 1960. The 1st order Fresnel lens that was once in the lantern is now on display at the Historical Museum of Southern Florida in Miami. The 1852 lighthouse is now within the John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, the first undersea park in the United States. Back to the edition of: Jul/Aug 2021
