Historic image of the Tortugas Harbor Lighthouse and the lightkeeper’s house. Notice the large number of cannon balls piled up in front of the house. Also, if you look closely, you will notice a cannon sitting to the right of the light tower. When the house was destroyed by fire in 1912, the lighthouse was automated. (Lighthouse Digest archives)
