Left: The lens at Hillsboro Lighthouse is its original second-order bivalve Fresnel lens. It projects its light at 5.5 megacandelas 135 feet above sea level. The lens was manufactured by Barbier, Benard & Turenne Co of Paris, France and is 9 feet in diameter and weighs 3,600 pounds. (Lighthouse Digest archives)
