After people moved out of the Brush Point area of Detroit, the William Livingstone home was abandoned and languished for many years. When it was scheduled for demolition in 1978 to make room for a new Red Cross building, preservationists succeeded in moving it to a new location so that it could be saved. However, the plans to save the structure never materialized, and it was left to deteriorate to the point where it was no longer possible to save it. On September 15, 2007 the house was demolished.
