Otto Bufe started his lighthouse career at Point Iroquois Light in 1898 after the Navy discharged him because of his ongoing medical problems. He served here a second time from 1905 to 1907. The 1871 lighthouse is located at the mouth of the St. Mary’s River on Lake Superior in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. (Lighthouse Digest archives)
