Norris Mihill Works (1873-1962) was the Superintendent (1912-1918) and then the Assistant Superintendent (1918-1938) of Lighthouses on the upper Great Lakes. He graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering from Cornell University in 1897. He was the one who suggested that the author, Dr. Edwin A. Brown, contact lighthouse keeper David Kincaide. Norris M. Works is buried in the Oak Ridge Cemetery in Lima, New York. Perhaps the day will come when someone or some organization will place a U.S. Lighthouse Service memorial plaque at his tombstone.
