The first Sackets Harbor Lighthouse on Horse Island, New York stood from 1831 until it was replaced in 1870 by the lighthouse that stands there today; it was built 300 feet southeast of the old lighthouse. When the new lighthouse was completed the old lighthouse was burned or demolished. This image of the original lighthouse appeared in the November 1883 edition of Harper’s New Monthly Magazine.
