Photo Caption:

Four of the Baptiste children at Monhegan Island Lighthouse in 1952. Standing is Paul Jr., left is Tom, right is Bill, and Nanette is on the ground. The kids were lucky to be the first kids on Monhegan Island to have a TV in their home, thanks to a generator that Paul Baptiste used for power in the keeper’s house. When Paul installed a TV antenna on the roof of the keeper’s house, some people objected to the appearance of it, saying it was ugly and would not look good in photographs for the “day trippers” who visited the island toting their cameras in hand.
