Under Construction
Interestingly, the government’s photos of the Los Angeles Harbor Lighthouse in Los Angeles, California while it was under construction seem to have been lost in the pages of time. This is perhaps the only known photo of the lighthouse under construction that has survived from the pages of the Pacific Mutual News in February of 1913. The Los Angeles Harbor Lighthouse stands at the end of a 9,250-foot long breakwater. The lighthouse took 14 months to build and cost $35,971.49. (National Archives image.)
