Carl Delano Hill served at ten different lighthouses as a lighthouse keeper from 1910 to 1947. He was also a radio show star of sorts. At one time, he and the keeper of Hospital Point Lighthouse played shipmates on a scripted radio program. According to his family, while living on Nantucket Island, Carl Hill and the mailman shared a car together, and they were the first people to operate an automobile on Nantucket Island.
