Orlo Hayward loved to ride motorcycles on his time off the Rock. His daughter Jean remembered, “He had motorcycles for a long time and we have other photos of him on a motorcycle when he was much older. Dad would always discourage me from ever having a motorcycle telling me they were just too dangerous. He and Mom told me that Dad’s motorcycle had fallen over on him pinning him to the ground where he waited for someone to pull the heavy rig off of him while it was burning his legs. That is when, I understood, he gave up on riding motorcycles for life.” (Photo courtesy of Jean Hayward Wilkinson.)
