Photo Caption:

Sankaty Head Lighthouse as it appeared with the new duplex keepers’ homes. Claire and Joe Bauser lived in the section to the left. In the 1990s as erosion threatened the structures, one of the homes was moved from the site to another location to become low income housing. The rest of the buildings were demolished. In 2007 the lighthouse tower was moved 250 feet away from the eroding bluff. (Photo courtesy Claire Bauser.)
