Photo Caption:

Captain Ernest Bondy USCG on January 4, 1937 is shown changing the light bulb that lighted the Fresnel lens of Michigan’s no longer standing Belle Isle Lighthouse. This photo shows that the lens was still in possession of the Coast Guard before they ordered that the lighthouse was to be demolished in 1943. (Lighthouse Digest archives.)
